China Wok Edges Panda Chinese in West County Food Fight
It was nearly a dead-heat in this week's Food Fight, asking users for their favorite spot for Chinese takeout. The Eureka restaurant didn't get a majority, but it edged its closest competitor.
China Wok in Eureka was this week's winner of the West County Food Fight, in which we asked Patch users for their favorite restaurant for Chinese takeout. It won, but only by a hair's breadth.
China Wok came in with 37 percent of the vote, compared to 35 percent for Panda Chinese in Wildwood in our friendly food competition. Here's how the votes were split among the rest of the finalists (may not equal 100 percent due to rounding).
- Asian House, Clarkson Valley, fewer than 1 percent.
- China Garden, Town and Country, 3 percent.
- Golden Wok, Ellisville, 5 percent.
- Hunan Express, Ballwin, 11 percent.
- Hunan Express, Chesterfield 4 percent.
- Yangzee Chinese Restaurant, Manchester, 1 percent.
Voting took place from Thursday morning through Friday at 5 p.m.
Congratulations, China Wok, and thank you to all who participated in the Food Fight by voting in the poll and leaving comments on the site.
We look forward to hearing from you again in the next edition of Food Fight.
About this column: Each week, the West St. Louis County Patch sites will seek the best place to get certain entrees in the area. The Food Fight will allow users to vote on their favorite place to get a burger or a latte or a steak, etc., in the area. We will ask for submissions every Monday, will post finalists every Thursday and the champion on Saturday. Be sure to check back to vote.

Hunan Peking on Manchester Road used to be our favorite Chinese restaurant, but it was taken over by new owner. I don't know if the prior owners didn't sell their recipes, but the food is not nearly as good. We won't go there any more. I'm trying to find out where the prior owners started a new Chinese restaurant. Does anyone know?
