Athlete of the Week: Vote for This Week's Top Football Star
Vote for your favorite football player in this week's Athlete of the Week poll. Be sure to vote by 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
The high school football-season is in full-tilt, which means area athletes are tearing up the grid iron and making highlight reel plays.
We want to know which athlete fared the best over the weekend.
We're taking athletes from Maryland Heights Patch, Creve Coeur Patch, Chesterfield Patch, Town and Country-Manchester Patch and Ballwin-Ellisville Patch and finding out which ones are the best, according to the fans.
Vote in the poll below: Who was the central St. Louis County player of the week for the third week of the 2012 football season?
Here are the nominees:
Jake Bushman, RB, Parkway Central High School: Bushman found the endzone three times in Parkway Central's 49-7 shalacking of Seckman. Bushman needed just six touches to amass 18 points — he had five rushes for 58 yards and two scores and one reception that went for a 55-yard touchdown.
Connor Harrison, QB, De Smet High School: Harrison helped fuel the Spartans to a 47-19 win over Vianney with solid showing at quarterback. Harrison completed 9-of-16 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown.
Parkway South High School Defense: The Patriots defense came up big in Parkway South's 34-15 win over Francis Howell Central on Friday. Bobby Mudd scored on a 12-yard fumble recovery just more than three minutes into the second quarter and in the final frame of the game, Jordan Noyes cemented a Patriots win with an 11-yard interception that went for a pick-six. Overall, the Parkway South defense had two interceptions, forced three fumbles and recorded two sacks.
Roosevelt Abram, RB, Parkway North High School: Abram, a sophomore running back for Parkway North, took over for starter Johnathan Little after he injured his leg and ran for 148 yards and scored his second touchdown of the season late in the fourt quarter of a losing effort. Abram also had a catch for 20 yards in Parkway North's 34-13 loss to Summit.
Remember: It's all for fun. This is simply a fan's choice award.
