Athlete of the Week: Vote for This Week's Top Football Star

Vote for your favorite football player in this week's Athlete of the Week poll. Be sure to vote by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.

The high school football-season is in full-tilt, which means area athletes are tearing up the grid iron and making highlight reel plays.

We want to know which athlete fared the best over the weekend.

We're taking athletes from Maryland Heights PatchCreve Coeur PatchChesterfield PatchTown and Country-Manchester Patch and Ballwin-Ellisville Patch and finding out which ones are the best, according to the fans.

Vote in the poll below: Who was the central St. Louis County player of the week for the first week of the 2012 football season?

Here are the nominees:

Thomas Raybuck, St Louis Priory: Raybuck had about as good a day as you can have on the gridiron. He scored five times during Priory's 49-14 win over Westminister on Saturday. Raybuck ran for scores of 35-, 16-, 53-, 65- and 54-yards en route to a 280 rushing yard performance.

Jake Stroker, Pattonville High SchoolStroker snatched two touchdown catches in the Pirates' 29-15 loss to McCluer. Stroker caught TD receptions from 47- and 4-yards out. He finished the game with four catches for 101 yards. He also chipped in with a tackle on the defensive side of the ball.

Terrell Bland, Parkway South High School: Bland was anything but. In fact, he did a little bit of everything. Bland scored in the air, on the ground and through his arm. His 4-yard touchdown run in the second quarter was his first score. He followed it up with 42-yard touchdown pass and then a 20-yard touchdown reception. And as if that weren't enough, Bland also had an interception, fumble recoer and three tackles in the game.

Michael Slater,  Parkway Central High School: Slater only amassed 24 rushing yards during Central's 24-21 victory over Webster Groves. But he made those yards count, finding the endzone twice during those rushes—once on a 1-yard run first quarter and again on another 1-yard run, which put Central ahead for good in the third quarter. Slater also had two tackles and three assists in the game.

Remember: It's all for fun. This is simply a fan's choice award.

Want to write in your own candidate? Go ahead! But be sure to explain your pick in the comments and be sure to vote by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.
