Police stated in a news release that they are actively searching for a dark SUV, possibly a Mercury Mountaineer. It was reported seen around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Horton Lane and Des Peres Road.

Police tell Patch they are looking for the vehicle in connection to the two home burglaries previously reported by Patch last week. In those incidents, thieves tried to break into two homes. An alarm scared them off from one house, but they gained access to the other house and made off with jewelry. A black SUV was reportedly spotted in a driveway of one of those homes around the time of the crimes.

Police stated the SUV that was spotted Wednesday was occupied by at least two people described as a middle-aged female and a female in her 20's.

Any residents who observe any unfamiliar, dark colored SUV in their neighborhood are urged to contact police dispatch at 314-737-4600 or 911.
